Get Creative 2024 - Week 3

This week is all about playing with colour through colour mixing. First off, apologies to anyone following along week on week - we’re currently renovating the kitchen and being honest, I took a bit too much on at the same time. But it kind of proves my point - creativity will be there

Back to colour mixing though - When I began to explore colour mixing more, I couldn’t believe the wealth and richness of options before me. It was a revelation and super easy to do!

Perhaps a good place to start is the basic colour wheel where you mix the three primary colours (red, blue and yellow) to varying degrees to get the secondary colours (purple, green and orange).

This week's task:

Another excellent exercise is to get one yellow, one blue and one red plus black and white. Here are some questions to think about when doing this exercise:

  • What happens when I mix these two colours?

  • How does it change of I add more of one colour? Or add black? Or white?

  • How many colours can I discover with these three primary colours, plus black and white?

This week’s prompts:

And use our prompts to get you inspired! You can choose which one resonates with you and feel free to use the same prompts on multiple days if you like. This week’s prompts are:

  1. River

  2. The kitchen

  3. Something blue

  4. Pets

  5. The field

  6. My favourite…

  7. At my desk

I’m excited to see how you get on. Don’t forget to link to #getcreative2024 and follow me on Instagram!
