About Me

H! I’m Jennifer. I am a mixed media artist based in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland where I live with my husband Micheal, our son Conor and two greyhounds Ella and Hugo.

For years, I struggled to make an authentic connection to why I created art. I loved the act of painting. I loved trying to create pretty work and it gave me a sense of relaxation and happiness…but I was lacking in something and it wasn’t until I started back writing again in 2022 that something clicked in my brain.

Once I began writing more often, a funny thing happened – I began seeing my experiences of motherhood in the form of poems and prose. And from there, emerged a new sense that I had to transfer these written pieces to canvas. Pictures emerged that linked my words and emotions to shapes and ideas in paint. And a whole new connection to my art has come from that.

I work intuitively and allow the poem/prose to lead the way on how the art will emerge. I make space for all of the emotions of motherhood - the love, the grief, the loss, the happiness...and try to share them in a relatable, hopefully, beautiful way.

Primarily my subject matter reveals itself through land and seascapes, botanical art and some abstract work.

My motherhood journey has really sparked deeper meaning in my art and I have discovered connection and community with others by sharing my visual and written account of my journey so far.

I currently work full-time in a non-art related field. I spent my early to mid-20s working in print journalism before returning to college to get a degree in marketing and management. Since then, I have worked in marketing, sales and now project coordination roles. My art and blog are bringing me full circle - back to writing and content sharing so I am very pleased with that!!
